Robert Knutsen - Chief Executive Officer / Managing Partner

From an early age, Rob had a clear sense of purpose and a strong vision for his future. In 2007, while still attending college, he began his journey with JDL as an intern. It quickly became evident that his character, talent, and relational leadership style were a natural fit for the firm’s culture and mission. After graduating magna cum laude from Vanguard University of Southern California with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration, Rob officially joined the JDL team and later earned the distinguished Retirement Income Certified Professional® (RICP®) designation.

Today, as CEO and Investment Adviser at JDL, Rob plays a pivotal role in shaping the firm’s vision, culture, and continued success. He leads the organization with a deep commitment to excellence, overseeing staff development and mentoring to ensure the team is equipped to serve clients at the highest level. In addition to advising clients and helping families navigate complex financial decisions, Rob directs the firm’s daily operations, providing the strategic leadership and operational oversight necessary for JDL to consistently deliver an exceptional client experience. His responsibilities span compliance, financial operations, investment oversight, client service excellence, and the many complexities involved in managing a thriving investment advisory business.

Known for his thoughtful leadership and genuine care for others, Rob is passionate about building a firm culture rooted in integrity, stewardship, and personal connection. He believes financial planning is ultimately about helping people live with greater confidence, purpose, and peace of mind.



Outside of work, Rob’s greatest joy is his family. He and his wife, Holly, are proud parents of five children and love spending quality time together, especially while traveling and enjoying tropical destinations. Their faith plays a central role in their lives, and they are actively involved in their church and local community. Rob and Holly are deeply passionate about foster care and have dedicated significant time and energy to supporting vulnerable children and families. They actively volunteer with organizations including For The Children Foundation and Olive Crest and also serve as board members of the Family Building Foundation.
